Due to the precision of the internal parts of the printer, even ordinary wiping or adding lubricating oil may have an undeniable impact on the printing quality. Therefore, internal cleaning must be done with caution. Based on my experience, the following parts that can be cleaned are listed for your reference.

Carbon powder protection

Printer ink cartridges will have some fillers, which are used to absorb excess toner in the roller system that transports paper. Users can remove it from the machine and manually clean it. A new ink cartridge usually contains a new pad.

Paper feeding roller

They are the transfer part of the printer, which drags the paper from the paper slot to the inside of the printer. However, during this process, the oil and dust on the paper can also deposit on the drum. If not cleaned for a long time, it can cause paper jams and paper feeding errors, which are also the most common faults of the printer. Here, we can clean these sediments with cotton balls or damp cloths soaked in alcohol. In addition, some office equipment specialty stores also have specialized drum cleaners.

Similar to the interior of computers, many laser printers also have internal fans that can be clogged with dust and dirt year-round. We must ensure regular cleaning of the ventilation openings and fan blades to maintain air flow inside the printer. So remember to clean the printer when you first complete the printer task and pay attention to all components with temperature warning signs. In some office supply stores, we can also see some specialized laser printer "cleaning paper" for sale. They are covered with specialized paper that can absorb dust and excess toner in the paper path of the printer. Moreover, because they go through the complete printing process, the internal cleaning of the printer is also the most thorough.

External cleaning

Compared to internal cleaning, external cleaning of printers is usually simpler and safer. When cleaning the external surface of computer hardware, ordinary users can use the cleaning/protection spray used to clean the interior of the car, which helps reduce static electricity and is safer for the plastic surface. The cleaner can be sprayed on a soft cloth to wipe the equipment shell (be careful not to spray spray into the interior of the machine). At the same time, when cleaning the exterior of the printer, we can also blow compressed air through the air outlet, fan channel and paper trough to remove dust and dirt.
